Our homeowners at this property started their project with a simple paint consultation about a year ago. They were hosting an engagement party for their daughter at the time & wanted to freshen up their space. Over these past few months we've transformed the stylings of their English-traditional Colonial to a crisp, clean shore home.
In the sitting room, we selected a fresh coat of white paint to cover the teal sponge-painted walls to brighten the room. As a nod to the previous floral-print valances, we designed custom floor length drapes in a modern Thistle pattern to highlight our native Virginia foliage. The teal & beige striped couch received a make-over with a custom slipcover in a textured geometric print. Shades of blue & carefully curated accessories create a relaxing space & provide a sea-side feel.
We refreshed the paint in the dining room as well as added custom crown molding to tie in with the sitting room. To soften the feel of the space, we added slipcovers to some of the dining chairs & reupholstered the seat cushions with a textured neutral (but stain-resistant) fabric. An updated brass chandelier offers clean lines & transports the traditional furnishings to a more modern styling.
We rearranged furniture & updated trimmings in the family room and Florida room to tie in with the theme of the design & provide a better flow between the spaces. We defined a welcoming entry by adding a honed Carrara marble tile floor, a new lighting fixture & modern console with fresh accessories. A fresh light blue door welcomes Guests into this James River home.
