This sweet, young couple bought their starter home in 2021 from an interior designer. While they initially loved the charm of the split-level Ranch, it was a bit too traditional for their tastes. They wanted a modern & fresh approach to their lower level, perfect for relaxing after work and hosting game nights amongst their friends.

The cozy reading nook was ideal for a luxe game room - complete with a leather loveseat to sit back & enjoy a cocktail while watching a football game. I embraced the creation of a dark space in order to amp up the nighttime lounge-feel. This speak-easy inspired room was finished with black accessories & rich sapphire, jewel-toned chairs, highlighted with accents of white marble & brass.

Outside of their game room is a soft & cozy living room, perfect for quiet conversation, reading & relaxation. I carried over the rich blues into the couch & curtain fabrics for cohesion but brightened the space overall with soft greys, white, blush & lavendar accents. The homeowners don't love prints so we opted to layer texture instead of adding bold patterns. A fresh coat of paint on the fireplace brings a modern twist to a traditional space.
