For this project, we were tasked with brightening, as the homeowners called it, a dark space. Rich in taupes & mahogany, the first floor was craving some lightness. . . immediately. To avoid the added costs (& time) of painting the entire interior of the home, we opted to achieve the task through carefully appointed accessories & updated lighting.

To tone down the reds in the main family room, we decided to bring in pastels. Soft ocean blue & rose pillows & a new area rug helped create an instant airy-ness to the space. Silver accents & pendant lights above the kitchen island brought in cool tones to balance out all of the warm hues of the cabinetry & wood floors. A fresh set of light blue dining chairs & a textured geometric area rug enhanced the modern furnishings.

We were also asked to add a desk space to the formal sitting room. A custom upholstered bench & neutral valances ensured we didn't obstruct the view outside to bring in as much light as possible. We also brought in mirrors to reflect the sunlight and some cream accessories & florals for a few added touches.
